Boat and Engine Exports and Imports Section of 2017 Statistical Abstract Now Available

The third section of NMMA’s 2017 U.S. Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, Boat and Engine Exports and Imports section, is now available in the Statistics section of NMMA.org.

The 2017 Boat and Engine Exports and Imports section includes production and retail unit sales data; export unit sales by length; import unit sales by length; estimated retail sales; and, retail sales by length. 

  • In 2017, recreational boat and marine engine imports were up 10.9% to an all-time high of $3.2 billion.
  • Exports from the U.S. increased by 9.4% to 1.3 billion for 2017.
  • For the 10th consecutive year Western Europe and Canada rank as the top two export trading partners (3rd consecutive year for Canada ranking 1st).
  • The U.S. remains a net exporter of outboard boats, sterndrive boats, and smaller inboard boats.
