NAFTA Renegotiation Initiated by Trump Administration – NMMA Member Survey on Trade Priorities

A letter enacting the 90-day waiting period before the U.S. can officially start North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) renegotiations was sent to Congress yesterday.

The letter sent by the administration begins the countdown for U.S., Canada and Mexico negotiators to hold formal sit downs on making any changes or updates to the 23-year-old NAFTA. The newly appointed U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer is representing the U.S.

NMMA will be engaged and working with the administration to ensure recreational boating priorities are included. However, NMMA NEEDS YOU – our industry members – to provide feedback on what does and does not work for NAFTA to better equip us with the necessary information to best represent boating interests during renegotiations. You’re input is vital! Make sure your voice is heard by taking this survey today.

Formal negotiations are expected to begin in August. NMMA will continue to monitor any activity on NAFTA and provide updates. If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Vasilaros at [email protected]
