ICOMIA Statistics Book 2017 - Second Edition Now Available

The International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) released the second edition of its Recreational Boating Industry Statistics 2017. The second edition has additional data from key markets France and Italy, and an extra report from Australia, bringing the total number of global summaries up to 27 countries, plus export/import data for international trade in boats from 43 countries.

Data insights include:

  • 2017 was a positive year for many boating markets around the globe. Overall revenues across European boating markets that completed the survey were up 3% in 2017.
  • More than 36 million people went boating across Europe in 2017.
  • Global outlooks among marine industry leaders for the next 2-3 years were still overwhelmingly positive but slightly tempered compared to a year ago (77% of MIAs reported positive outlooks compared to 83% a year ago) as concerns over trade wars dampen sentiments.
