December New Powerboat Registrations Report Available

NMMA’s New Powerboat Registrations Report has been updated through December 2016, and advance data show new powerboat registrations were up 6.3% YOY, and nearly all segments were up last year. Highlights from the report include:
  • The tow boat, pontoon, saltwater fishing boat and personal watercraft segments experienced the highest rates of growth during 2016, up 11.8%, 9.2%, 7.9%, and 7.4% for the year, respectively.
  • Outboards boats were up 6.2% on a rolling 12 month basis (R12M) and inboard boats were up 11.8%. 
  • Sterndrive boats continue to lag behind other categories, down -1.5% in 2016 according to advance estimates.   
  • Larger boats 27’ and greater were up 10.7% through December (R12M YOY).
