April New Powerboat Registrations Report Available, Registrations Up 5 Percent

NMMA’s New Powerboat Registrations Report has been updated through April 2017, and advance data show new powerboat registrations were up 5 percent year-over-year (YOY) for the rolling twelve-month (R12M) period through April.  Highlights from the report include:

  • Nearly all segments were up through April (R12M YOY).  Growth in registrations was led by the following segments: saltwater fishing boats (9.6 percent), jet boats (9.3 percent), personal watercraft (8.6 percent), tow boats (6.9 percent) and pontoons (6.9 percent).
  • Outboard boats, which represent 65 percent of total new powerboat sales, were up 4.5 percent in registrations.
  • Larger boats (27’ and greater), were up 8.9 percent through April (R12M YOY).
