February New Powerboat Registrations Report Available, Registrations Up 6.1 Percent

NMMA’s New Powerboat Registrations Report has been updated through February 2017, and advance data show new powerboat registrations were up 6.1% year over year (YOY) for the rolling twelve-month (R12M) period through February. Highlights from the report include:

  • The tow boat, pontoon, saltwater fishing boat and personal watercraft segments experienced the highest rates of growth, up 10.1%, 9.6%, 8.5%, and 7.2%, respectively.
  • Nearly all segments were up through February (R12M YOY).  Outboards boats were up 6.4%, inboard boats were up 9.8% and jet boats were up 7%.  Sterndrive boats continue to lag behind other categories, down -4.8% during this same period.
  • Larger boats (27’ and greater) were up 8.8% through February (R12M YOY).
